This basic website is just the beginning. We hope to build a deep rooted-,
community based, international movement for change. If you are interested,
please fill out the form on the "Join Us" page and we will be in touch after the election.
The initial text for this website was drafted by David Hart. I grew up near
Philadelphia, PA, USA. I now live near Washington, DC, USA. I've been a
grassroots peace activist and conflict resolution practitioner for many years.
Thanks to Governor Sarah Palin, I now primarily identify as a proud community
organizer. Since June I've volunteered full-time plus as an Obama Organizing
Fellow. My primary focus has been to build active support for Senator Obama in
Maryland to help win the key swing State of Virginia. Together with a wonderful
leadership team, I helped create an Obama office full of life and hope. Some of
our core leaders don't want to see this hope fade and this moment of real
opportunity be lost. Instead, we want to Grow the Hope.

For those interested, here is a bit more about my ideas for Grow the Hope.
If this vision is to build into a viable movement for change, we will need to
assemble a strong leadership team. Already several great people have expressed
interest in the concept. I'm open to working with a group to develop an
organizational structure, specific programatic initiatives, and funding options.
There is enormous room for creativity and real leadership. While we undertake
this task, I want the core vision of Grow the Hope to remain intact. That is the
ideas reflected in this initial draft site will be the guiding principles of the
organization. These principles can be seen throughout the major tabs in the
site.
We are building a people's movement for progressive social change. We do so at
this particular moment in history because we are interested in capturing the
hope that has emerged within the Obama campaign. When we say we want to change
the world, we mean that we are committed to building a world of peace, with
justice, and to a new healthy relationship with the earth. We understand the
spiritual crisis and will not attempt to separate our human selves from our
political selves. Instead, we will create an organization that welcomes of all parts
of us. We explicitly desire to build a diverse and vibrant organization alive
with the possibilities of hope and change. We will address the horrors
of the crisis facing our planet and we will nurture hope in the face of
adversity. We will not ignore the pain and despair present in our world - far
from it - but we will focus on solutions and building real hope. Strong leaders
understand that a core task of real leadership is to develop leadership skills
in others. Nurturing the next generation of social change activists will be
among our central priorities. We value imagination, creativity, and community.
We will have fun while working to save this precious planet.
